OUR STORY

You could say that for Bart Bass, the owner of Oregon Aronia Berries, farming is his DNA. His great-grandfather Henry homesteaded a 200 acre plot of land in southern Illinois that his son, Bart's grandfather Fred Schehl, farmed his entire life. Bart's mother Phyllis spent her youth on this very farm. After moving to Oregon to begin her professional career as a teacher, she could not wait to find enough land to raise her family and farm a little herself. On just a few acres, she planted berries, cucumbers, raised chickens, pigs and goats.

FAMILY TRADITION

It was only natural for Bart in his youth to raise cucumbers, sheep and join Future Farmers of America. It was no surprise to anyone when Bart planted his first crop and created Oregon Aronia Berries in 2015. The surprise to everyone, was the crop. What the heck is an Aronia berry?

It was through Bart's investigation that we have all learned just what a superfood that aronia berries are. Native to North America, aronia berries are a superfruit similar in size, shape and color as blueberries.

ARONIA BERRIES...
They're just good for you!

Aronia Berries are also known as chokeberries due to their, rich tart taste. These berries add an incredible boost of flavor to smoothies, pies, sauces, teas, jams and more.

We enjoy them as a straight antioxidant, immune boosting shot of juice, adding them to our teas, kombucha and favorite beverages as well as an oatmeal or cereal topper.

Why Aronia Berries? As Bart likes to say, "They're just good for you."
